5 top trends for 2023

Happy New Year!

We have certainly welcomed 2023 with quite the fanfare, hosting our Sample Sale as soon as the doors opened was a stroke of genius! It means that we have not only managed to ‘marry’ some beautiful brides with the dress of their dreams (at a fraction of the cost), we have also managed to clear some rail space in readiness for our new collections.

Our 2023 brides are in for a real treat! While there will still be the old favourites and classic styles available, there are already some huge trends which are standing out as must-haves for this bridal season.

Here are our top 5 trends for 2023. I wonder how many of them are on your wish list? Let us know.

Lots of love, Emma & The Boo Team xx

1 - Pearls

Pearls are already huge for 2023, and I don’t just mean in size - they are everywhere! Charlotte Mills has been putting them on her shoes for years, and I honestly can’t remember the first time we started scattering them over veils. It seems that the dresses have finally caught up and now we have gowns adorned with these divine embellishments and I for one can’t get enough of them.

You absolutely don’t have to be covered from head to toe, a pearl covered headband, or a simple drop earring could be enough of a nod for you to tick this trend box.

2 - Romance

This year sees a return to romance, modesty and femininity. This is evident in the use of diaphanous fabrics and tiny details which sculpt the figure and highlight its curves rather than having everything on display. We are seeing a return of traditional values and that can be seen in the ongoing popularity of sleeves and higher necklines.

3 - Transformation

Who doesn’t love a big reveal?….. The grand finale?…… The showstopper! We all do, and that’s why the transformation dress is on everyone’s wishlist. Deep down, all of us dream of being Dianna Ross (ask your mum, or gran) and have 50 costume changes, and your wedding day is perfect for this!

Last year, we saw a rise in brides having an evening dress, which was shorter, or more flowing to allow for dancing. This year our designers have embraced this further to bring you some incredible bodices, skirts, sleeves, jackets and overlays to create endless options for your special day!

4 - Buttons

Buttons will always be elegant and we have to admit that we are not sad to see them return ten fold in this years collections. There is a ceremony and reverence to buttoning a wedding dress, a calm moment between a Bride and her Mother/Aunt/Bridesmaid that will create a memory that lasts a lifetime.

There is also an Old Wives tale that suggests the amount of buttons on a wedding dress correlates to the number of years the couple will be happily married!

5 - Lace

It seems that lace is here to stay. Whether it is all over, as an appliqué, 3D, or coloured, we are still head over heels in love with lace.

What we are noticing, is a new modern twist with pattern and placement. There are some very exciting lace dresses joining the collections here at Boo and we simply cannot wait to show them to you!
