True love conquers all
Boo Bride Lauren married her true love Ryan last June, and just over a year later we thought it would be a lovely idea to share a few moments of their special day. We hope you enjoy their story and Lauren’s top tips to make your day extra special. We hope you will join with us in wishing them both a lifetime of happiness, Love Emma xxx
“Ryan and I met in the most romantic way possible - you guessed it, Tinder. When we first met he referred to himself as 'an average guy from Mytchett' but for me I knew he was my person from our first date, and that I did not want to spend one more day of my life without him. Over the years we were lucky enough to build the most loving, supporting and laughter full relationship and eventually after a solid 6 years of hinting, he popped the question.”
“His proposal could not have gone less to plan, originally - on Christmas eve - we were supposed to be taking our much loved dog Wally on a walk at the place we had one of our first dates, where he planned to propose and pop out a bottle of bubbly in a place very special to us both. Our dog walker then unexpectedly came and collected said dog - leaving a secretly deflated Ryan. I then in my true style saw this as a fantastic opportunity to drag him out last minute christmas shopping to which he obliged (ring burning a hole in his pocket), whilst he frantically tried to quickly think of a plan B.
After 3 hours of shopping we got home, and I decided then would be a great time to spring clean the entire house - we're talking blinds and under the sofa cushions kind of cleaning. He knew that in true Lauren fashion I needed to do this to then be able to fully relax. He waited - patiently - and when we then snuggled up with our dog on the sofa in our little home, he played a song called Joker and The Queen and simply presented me with a ring - no question, just two blubbering messes who knew without doubt this was the easiest yes in the world. Turns out, it was more perfect than he could have ever planned.”
“Firstly - let's talk about you! And I am not saying this because you're who I am speaking to, I genuinely shout from the rooftops about my experience with Boo, and particularly my real life fairy godmother Emma. As you know, the concept of dress shopping was almost unimaginable for me due to losing my mum at 16. Despite visiting other boutiques, the moment I stepped into Boo I knew that I was in the best hands. I cannot actually put into words how grateful I was to have found the perfect dress with you - the moments in your little boutique are times I will treasure forever. Sincerely one of my only regrets on the day was not taking you up on being there on the day to dress me. BRIDES - please seriously consider this service, you can still have that moment with your special person before walking down the aisle - but with Emma's experience she can just get you looking a whole new level of good in your dress - even if you do question if you'll be able to breathe for a short 10 seconds ;). My gorgeous Auntie dressed me on the day, and whilst that's a moment I will treasure forever, even she was reciting Emma's instructions!”
“When looking for a venue we wanted somewhere that felt homely - all we ever wanted from our wedding was a place for everyone we love to relax and have fun. We got married at Bury Court Barn and it is the most effortlessly beautiful place I have ever been to. We knew instantly it was our venue, the staff were unbelievably amazing and the whole day ran so perfectly. We actually used Hitched to source a lot of our other suppliers, which I highly recommend brides to have a look at, it's so easy to navigate and gives you so many options for various suppliers. Every supplier we had just understood us completely, we wanted minimal fuss, no hours of staged photos, and most importantly people that could also enjoy the day with us. Our decorative supplier Love With Letters were just faultless, I mean seriously perfect - I didn't even see them come or leave, but my god what a job they did. They are so in demand and it's no surprise, words cannot do their work justice. Beth and Giannis are a match made in heaven, our photography and video are without question our most treasured things from the day. The hair and makeup girlies are so talented and such gorgeous souls, a special thanks to Lilly. I could go on forever with the thanks, all of our suppliers were worth their weight in gold.”
“On the day we were surrounded by our most favorite people in the world, the rooms were a sea of smiling faces and my best advice to any couple getting married is to take 10 minutes with your partner and just look around - look at all of the people that are there to celebrate you and your love. My most favorite part of the day was Ryan and I trailing off after dinner to take some photos with the sunset. It is no joke how quickly the day goes, and I will forever be grateful to our photographer and videographer for allowing us to wait until then to take our couple photos, we got to enjoy every minute of our reception drinks, and it gave us the opportunity to focus purely on each other, to love each other without eyes on us, and most importantly remind ourselves the reason we were there - and that from that moment onwards we were husband and wife.”
Some very real advice based on my experience;
1. Get ready well ahead of time - the last thing you want is to be rushed or miss out on time with your people before you get married and you can always top up that makeup!
2. Brief your bridesmaids/groomsmen on any staged photos - your photographer will know, but your bridesmaids/groomsmen know everyone and aren't afraid to shout
3. Spend as much time with your partner as possible - sounds obvious but you're so in demand all day it's easy to separate
4. Don't be afraid to let that dress see a good time after photos - you will not regret the wine, mud, and makeup stains the next day - trust me
5. Take, or ask your coordinator to leave some evening food aside for you - last highlight of our night was a bottle of bubbly and a pizza sitting in our room waiting for us before bed.
