Katie and Matthew’s dream castle wedding
Love can be found in the strangest of places. For Katie & Matthew, it was just waiting for the perfect time to blossom.
“My husband Matthew and I had actually known each other for nearly all of our lives… Our mums worked together as teens, my dad worked with his grandad and his dad is best friends with my step-dad. Despite this though, we grew up ‘separately’ and didn’t get to know each other until the week before my 18th birthday, when we got a little bit drunk together in the local pub. In 2020 when Matthew was deployed with the RAF he designed a ring, had it made and brought it home with him. It wasn’t until 3 years later that the ring made it to my finger! (Little did he know, I knew about it the whole 3 years) So after 9 years together, a house, a beautiful son I ended up proposing to him at home.
Our wedding venue was Farnham Castle, and we chose it for a few reasons - it’s absolutely beautiful, local, and big. They could also bring our vision to life. The ceremony was at Crondall church where most of both our families have been christened or married and is especially close to our hearts.
We found most of our suppliers on social media, or family and friends. Our photographer was a family friend, Sue, and considering she’d never photographed a wedding before, she really exceeded our expectations. She portrayed our day perfectly!
My hairdresser was my cousin Laura. There’s really nobody else I would’ve trusted with my bridal team. She’s truly amazing at what she does.

Everybody was so friendly and lovely to work with.
The planning process was really fun. I have worked in weddings and events so I knew where to start. Matthew was very involved in the planning too which was great. There may have been some compromises along the way but in the end everything was perfect.
Matthew and I both agree that our favourite thing of all was just having everybody together to celebrate with us. My grandad was very unwell and it meant the world to me that he made it there for the day. We also had some guest travel from abroad to be there, and overall were incredibly grateful that so many people took the time off work to attend on a Monday!
I had a rough idea when it came to my wedding dress but still required Emma’s expert knowledge and talent to help me whittle it down. I already knew how amazing Emma was, as she had altered my prom dress many years ago! On the day, myself, mum and sister were welcomed by Anna and Emma and were immediately made to feel at ease. I tried on about 6 dresses and was torn between two very different ones at the end. But with special thanks to Emma, she helped me recognise my style and made sure my favourite elements were all there such as the huge detailed train, the buttons on the back and hint of sparkle.
It’s now coming up to one year married and we’re set to go on our honeymoon to Dominican Republic in April!
Lots of love, Mr & Mrs B xx”
