5 top trends for 2022

Happy New Year! We have been back for a week now and it feels as if we have never been away. The diary is filling up beautifully with all of your new bridal appointment bookings, and we cannot wait to help you all find your perfect dress.

It can feel a little overwhelming with so much choice - where do you even begin? So to help you with some inspiration, I thought I would let you know what our predicted top trends are for this year, and see how you can incorporate them into your bridal ensemble.

Here are our top 5 trends for 2022. I wonder if you agree, or perhaps you might have your own thoughts on what this coming year will bring. Let us know.

Lots of love, Emma & The Boo Team xx

1 - Texture

We have seen a clear jump from lace and sparkle towards texture and fabric manipulation in the latest collections coming from the top design houses. (Don’t worry girls; for the romantics among you will be delighted to hear that there is still plenty of lace and sparkle to be had).

It shows that plain & simple need not be boring, and elegance is yet again top of most wish lists.

2 - Long veils

Anyone who has ever visited Boo will know how much we love a veil - and the longer it is, the better! There are so many options out there for ways to ensure they work cohesively with your gown. Almost as much effort can go into creating the perfect veil as it does in the dress itself.

3 - Ethical

Before we start, a slight disclaimer, I wish my workroom was this organised! This image is from Pinterest, Dior for Marion Cotillard. I am using it to illustrate my next point.

All of us are trying to be more conscious and ethical about the way we spend our money and how that can have an impact on our planet. Bridal gets a bad reputation for being a dress you wear for a few hours at the most! But did you know that our bridal houses are doing everything they can to reduce waste and cut down on their emissions? Some are using fabrics made from recycled bottles, and bamboo!

We love how our dresses are purpose made. There are not warehouses full of gowns in a particular design - your dress doesn’t even exist until we create it.

4 - sleeves

Yes, I know! You’re right, sleeves have been around forever, but this year, they really are EVERYWHERE! Lace, chiffon, fitted, bishop, puffed, raglan, capped, long, fluted …! Sleeves are indeed a huge part of 2022 and I for one am over the moon about it.

5 - big skirts

It seems that the old adage of “less is more” has gone out of the window this year as we all plan weddings of excess! I think the previous two years of restrictions and postponements have shown us that we really want to “go big, or go home”.

Full skirts are back with all of the designers this year. Now we are not talking about removing-6-chairs-to-make-your-aisle-bigger full, we just mean that the fishtail is maybe sitting this one out.
