Aside from being truly beautiful, a corset should be part of every woman’s wardrobe.  I am not talking about the flimsy satin one that comes with the Halloween costume or the red lacy number you were gifted that Valentines Day ….. yes, you know the one!  I’m talking about a fully bespoke, made just for you, to fit your body perfectly.  My addiction to corsetry began a few years ago.  I always thought they were beautiful and intricate and created the most mesmerising curves ever.  I also adore the fact that a good one can shave at least 4” off your waist instantly!   I mean, what’s not to love about that? I could talk endlessly about the benefits and why you should own a corset, but here are just a few ….

One - As part of your wedding dress.

There is a little bit of confusion when it comes to corsetry and wedding dresses and I can be a little militant at times about the use of language.  A lace up back wedding dress is not a corset … there, I said it.  It does give you some extra flexibility with fit, but it will not sculpt your body in the same way or offer you comfortable waist reduction.  An easy way to spot a corset, is that the back opening edges should be parallel, if they are not, it is a decorative, lace up back.

Having a separate corset and skirt on your wedding day is often the first experience most women have of wearing an authentic corset and it’s often the start of their addiction.  They are not nearly as uncomfortable as you might imagine and they create some really beautiful curves.  

Two - Not just for the bedroom.

Thanks to Kim K, corsets as outerwear are back in fashion again.  Now I am a child of the 80’s and I love the New Romantic fashions, so you can imagine how elated I am about this trend.  However, we would probably tone it down a bit and team one with a shift dress or a crisp white shirt and jeans. You can still easily stealth one underneath your daily attire if you would prefer not to have it on show.

Three - A confidence boost.

There is much truth in the fact that great shoes can make you feel amazing, and that wearing matching underwear can elevate your day.  Seeing yourself for the first time after being laced into your first corset is the best feeling in the world.  It’s as if you are seeing yourself through someone else’s eyes and it is such a confidence boost.  

Four - Instant elegance and grace.

Corsets can really help with posture, which in turn gives you instant elegance and poise.  It is impossible to slouch when you are fully laced and people will see the difference in you instantly.  You will carry yourself differently, and maybe even walk differently, and you might even find that your back ache and your ‘tech neck’ completely disappears.

Five - They are undeniably sexy!
