Anna’s Country Wedding
We were delighted when Anna agreed to a little Q&A about her special day. Join with us as she tells us all about her perfect Country wedding, captured perfectly by Alistair at Ideal Imaging Photography.
Who is your other half? How did you meet? Was it a romantic proposal?
George and I met at University when we lived in a house of ten in Bristol. As George said in his speech, “There is a famous saying don’t sh*t where you eat” which thankfully didn’t stop us! George proposed 9 years later on the river bank in the highlands where we spend a week fishing every summer.
What made you choose your wedding venue? And what was the feel for the day?
We got married in Anna’s family home for a classic English wedding, we never discussed alternatives and Anna’s Mum had called the marquee company with 24 hours of the engagement. This also allowed us to lean on the community - a friend in the village kindly did the stunning church flowers. My favourite thing was that we could walk to & from the church.
The venue also meant we could convince the local pub to open early to do bacon baps for the boys & pints for all the guests before crossing the road to the Church.
How did you find your various suppliers?
As a teacher Anna spent the month after getting engagement before the school year started researching and speaking to suppliers. We had the most incredible team at Peapod doing our catering who went on to do SO much more including managing all communications on the day and cleaning a stain off my dress! They worked perfectly with Shelley from Eden Blooms and Perfect Pitch Marquees to create our dream pink & orange paradise.
What did you enjoy the most about your Boo Adventure?
I found dress shopping tricky because I loved every dress I tried! I stumbled across Boo after a haircut and they had a cancellation (it felt like fate) Emma was the perfect antidote to my confusion with a no nonsense approach to whittling down the list. The best part was Boo had my favourite dress in store and within 30 mins of walking through the door we had bought Phoebe by Sassi Holford.
What tips would you give to other brides planning their day?
I enjoyed (almost) every second of wedding planning and wish I could do it all again!! My biggest tip is if you’re not enjoying it, step back and change something, it is one day in your life and so you want to enjoy the process as much as the day. I worked really closely with my Mum to bring our vision to life in her home, we had to set boundaries and have difficult conversations at the start to ensure we both enjoyed the process.
What was your favourite part of the planning process?
We were really lucky to have my grandparents' vicar take our service, not only is she an important part of our family but she is also a LOT of fun. In our first meeting she suggested we do shots in the church after our vows - we could hardly believe our ears! We managed to keep this a secret from everyone and it created one of our most memorable parts of the day.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?
Our extended family organised for a live wedding artist to paint our day, Tushar was the loveliest man and spent 6 hours creating this masterpiece which takes centre stage in our home. We were blown away by his talents and all our guests loved watching the painting come to life as the day went on.
George (who loves Karaoke) organised with the band to do a surprise performance of Gold, Spandau Ballet for Anna. It went down a storm and the audio made into the outtakes of our incredible video made KasFilms.
Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness!
