Who can believe that January is almost over? It has been a little chilly of late so I thought I would brighten your day by introducing you to another of our Boo Brides. Last September, our beautiful bride Laura married her soulmate Ian, here you can read on, to find out how she created her perfect wedding and see what tips and tricks you can borrow along the way.
“My partners name is Ian Tolley, we have been together just over 6 years and met through friends years ago - then bumped into each other, on a dating app, a few years later.”
Laura & Ian
“We picked St Andrews Farnham because this is where Ian was christened and also I just find it an iconic church and landmark of Farnham.” It is so lovely when there are family ties to a venue, it really adds to the emotion of the day.
Just Married
“I picked Flowers by Becky because she has a great reputation, her work is lovely and upon meeting her, she was knowledgeable, professional and we found her prices to be very competitive. The flowers were stunning on the day!”
Shoes & Flowers
“I chose to visit Boo Bridal, again because of word of mouth, the experience was great and I loved the dress.”
Laura, Ian & church
“I was very much looking for a shorter dress to compliment my height (or petite frame) I don't feel comfortable in large dress nor tight fitting and a shorter dress is a little different.”
When Laura came to visit us at Boo, she had very clear visions of how she wanted to look on her big day. And whilst it is true that most brides walk in with an idea and walk out with something completely different - this wasn’t the case for Laura. She chose the ever classic (and very contemporary) bardot neckline, satin, tea length dress from Rita Mae and it looked absolutely perfect on her.
Outside The Church
“I enjoyed the whole experience of coming to Boo, service was great and Emma was patient and obviously very experienced, the alterations were well managed and timed, choice of dresses were great as well”
“Our reception was held at Taplins Place - It is full of character, rustic and a DIY venue. Which allows you to make it your own, but more work was needed to achieve this.” Laura is extremely organised and good with figures, so a DIY venue was great for her. If you are looking to dress your own venue, look out for hire companies that can take the strain if you have neither the time nor inclination."
Taplins Garden
“Our photographer was Photoforrester. I never met a pair of such funny, energetic and creative people, full of character and laughs. Getting two photographers is a must because you can see the story from both sides. They gave us all the images from the day edited, which was over 2000 photos! Loads of variety, we really were so pleased.” It’s a good idea to meet with your photographer and get a feel for them as a person. They soon become just another guest at the wedding and you forget that they are even there, often resulting in the best images of the day."
The Wall
“Our Wedding cake was from M&S. It was simple and elegant, and a friend from work, Sue Cox, kindly decorated it for us.” Making use of friend’s and family’s talents is great way to get people involved in the wedding prep. People are only too happy to help, they feel honoured to be included, and it is a huge myth that you have to do everything yourself."
The Cake
“Hair and make up was by Jo Stringer Bridal and Occasions, I had met her previously at another wedding and really liked how she worked, her as a person and the end result of both the brides and maid hair and make up.”

3 tips for other brides?

  1. We created a spreadsheet on one drive that we could both access to plan the wedding, was useful to tick tasks off, budget, create the table plan and assign tasks to one another.
  2. Get two photographers - it's so nice to get a different perspective and full story of the day. you really are left with the memories and photos of the day.
  3. It does go quick, find 5 minutes for yourselfs to take it all in.
Most memorable moment was probably walking down the aisle….
We Do
…but in way it was also the first dance, majority of our day guest were there, joined by the evening guests and it was the last formality of the day, we were also much more relaxed and it was fun.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about how Laura and Ian created their perfect wedding and it has inspired you to tick off a few boxes on your own ‘wed-min’ list. Please join with me to wish Laura and Ian every happiness for their future together - this is just the beginning! x
